The Board of directors

The Board of Directors receives advice and expertise from a working committee whose members are specialists in HIV/AIDS and in Development known for their long standing dedication to the developing countries.

They provide Solthis with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to respond to problems that the association encounters in the field.

Prof. Brigitte AUTRAN, Professor of Immunology at University Paris VI, Member, Laboratory of Tissue and Cell Immunology Department at the Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris. She is, among other things, president of the action group "Lymphocyte Homeostasis" and member of the scientific council of the Elisabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, of the Canadian Program for Research on Vaccines, and of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network-USA.

Prof. Jean-François BERGMANN, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Scientific Director of the Unit on Therapeutic Research at the Lariboisière Hospital. He is Vice President of the Commission for Drug Marketing Approval (Commission d'Autorisation de Mise sur le Marché) and President of the Drug Committee of the Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris.

Armand de BOISSIERE, General Secretary of the Bettencourt Schueller Fondation.  After the takeover of PINAULT SA, Mr. de BOISSIERE joined the industrial clothing group DEVANLAY as General Secretary, Administrator, or Manager of several companies in the group, where he worked with Léon CLIGMAN for 7 years. After this experience he became General Representative of the French Federation of French Woman's Wear, then Managing Director of SODES, a service PME in France and overseas. He joined the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation as General Secretary at the beginning of 2006

Prof. Gilles BRUCKER, Managing Director of the ESTHER network, Professor of Public Health at the University of Paris XII(Kremlin Bicêtre), former Managing Director of the French Health Surveillance Institute (2000-2007). Former President of Médecins du Monde and former director of the Institute of Health and Development, he has developed numerous humanitarian relief programs and public health research in developing countries. As a former advisor to the Minister of Health, Bernard Kouchner, he was in charge of the public health sector and programs for the control of infectious diseases, in particular HIV/AIDS.

Prof. Vincent CALVEZ, virologist, Virology Laboratory at the Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital.

Prof. Pierre-Marie GIRARD, Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Saint Antoine Hospital, and Professor of Infectious Diseases. He is Managing Director of the Institute of African Medicine and Epidemiology.

Prof. Christine KATLAMA, Director of the Outpatient Clinic and the Clinical AIDS Research Unit at the Service for Infectious and Tropical Diseases at the Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital. Founder and past president of the European AIDS Clinical Society, member of the Scientific Council of ESTHER, Founder and Coordinator of Objective: Research for an AIDS VACcine (ORVACS)

Patrice de MAISTRE, Managing Director, Bettencourt Schueller Foundation. Former member of the Executive Council, then Senior Vice President of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu until 2002. Today, he is Managing Director of Bettencourt Schueller Foundation, where he manages projects in the fields of scientific research, medicine and humanitarian aid.

Jean-François SAUVAT, Hospital Director first class, Strategy Delegate AP-HP ; BA in philosophy and Master's in Law, he has a degree from Sciences-Po (Paris) and Ecole Normale de Santé Publique. 

Jean-Pierre VALERIOLA, Director of Communication and Development, Bettencourt Schueller Foundation. Former Vice-President of the Oréal Group in charge of general management and external relations.

Prof. Florence Weber, Pediatrician, physician with the AP-HP, former advisor to the Minister of Health, Bernard Kouchner. Florence Weber is in charge of questions of health, AIDS and drug addiction for the City of Paris after having worked for several years at the Ministry of Health (specifically, at the Department of Hospitalization and Treatment).
