The association |

Founded in 1987 by Madame Liliane Bettencourt and her family in memory of her father Eugène Schueller, founder of L'Oréal, the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation was recognized as a non-profit public interest organization in December of the same year.
The Bettencourt Schueller Foundation is active
in three areas:
·
Scientific
research
·
Culture
and the arts
·
Social
and humanitarian activities
The
Foundation supports humanitarian and social programs, particularly those
related to care for HIV/AIDS patients in Africa,
the protection and education of children, and support of social housing and job
training projects.
Within the framework of its activity in the fight
against Aids in Africa, the Bettencourt
Schueller Foundation has sponsored Solthis since it was founded in 2003. It
contributed €2.2 million to Solthis' activities in 2007.
Support of social and humanitarian programs by the Bettencourt
Schueller Foundation responds to Liliane Bettencourt's desire to "help
those who are helping others in the field."

importance to the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation, for which it divides its
support between research and research and activities in the field.
Liliane Bettencourt explains the foundation's
commitment in the following way:
«
AIDS is a disease the affects us so intimately (...)
It is simply unimaginable not
to act, or react! »
