Our actions |

Solthis is proud of its status as a non-governmental organization; however,
it is impossible to build the capacities of healthcare systems without a solid
institutional anchor.
For this reason, Solthis always acts within the pre-established national
framework. Each project is initiated in
collaboration with local authorities and in concert with health professionals
already working in the fight against HIV, whether they belong to the public,
private, or non-governmental sector.
- Solthis maintains a permanent link between the realities in the field
and academic thought and study -
Solthis intervenes in support of national actors by reinforcing their
capacities to help guarantee sustainable access to medical care for persons
infected by HIV.
To put this strategy into place, Solthis has chosen to include members both in
the field and in academia and the scientific world. As such, Solthis is said to have "one foot
in the field, one foot in the academy."
Three key steps:
Our fields in the team provide continuous, in situ technical
support to national actors in the fight against AIDS.
They are also the principal witnesses to difficulties encountered in the
field. Frequent exchanges of information
by the Solthis team are particularly useful for nourishing the discussions of
our scientific working group, which can then provide a thoughtful and realistic
reflection on the problem at hand.
Our scientific working group covers such topics as the prevention of
mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), pediatrics, virology, HIV/TB co-infection
- all in the goal of responding to the specific issues identified in the
countries where we work.
Finally, Solthis espouses the principle of evaluating the efficacy not only of
its projects, but also:
-- its methods of intervention and the results obtained
As well as the technical aspects of its treatment programs:
-- analysis of the output of medical data,
particularly cohort data
