Our programs |

Beginning on December 10,
2004, Solthis supported two healthcare structures in the department of Atacora
Donga in Northern Benin. These structures are
located in Natitingou (Departmental Hospital), which is the capital of the Department and
Tanguiéta (Hôpital Saint Jean de Dieu) located 45 km to the North on the
road to Burkina Faso.
There are two goals for this mission: to help "boost" the healthcare policy for
the fight against HIV/AIDS in a region which is isolated from a healthcare
perspective, and help the Hôpital Saint Jean de Dieu (HSJD), a private structure
which was a pioneer in the management of HIV patients, become part of the Benin
initiative for access to ARV (IBAARV). It should be remembered that the
prevalence in this region is 2 % but with marked local variations, and can
reach 4 %.
More
specifically, the goal of Solthis support in Benin includes:
● Reinforcing testing activities by creating
an anonymous and free testing center
● Capacity building vis-à-vis the the
management of patients with HIV/AIDS
● Helping develop patient associations
● Creating PMTCT activities
