Solthis: Founding principles

Therapeutic Solidarity and Initiatives against AIDS (Solthis) is a completely independent, non-profit, international organisation for medical solidarity. Solthis acts in the name of the right to treatment for all and according to the principle of universal medical ethics.

● Solthis is a medical association that is entirely dedicated to the fight against HIV/AIDS in developing countries, and all funds are exclusively dedicated to this cause.

● Solthis' action is inscribed in a developmental approach.

● Solthis' mission is to build the capacities of the healthcare systems in the countries where it works so that they can provide high quality, sustainable management of HIV/AIDS.

● Solthis' specific goal is to help make medical treatment available to everyone with HIV/AIDS:

- wherever they are, even in isolated areas
- without prejudice to race, sex or ethnic background, or to social, religious, political or any other affiliation.

● Solthis is attached to the principle of "non substitution." The teams at Solthis do not work to replace national participants; on the contrary, they respond to specific needs. The goal of Solthis is to share its expertise.
 

The members of Solthis are specialists in the treatment of HIV/AIDS and professionals engaged in a developmental approach, dedicated for many years to the fight against the AIDS epidemic. They are faithful to their ethical principles and promote quality, excellence and professional behavior.

● Because of the specificities of the AIDS epidemic worldwide, Solthis does not provide "prefabricated" solutions but develops scientific and operational solutions tailored to each type and place of intervention with the help of a multidisciplinary team, as well as the home office.

● The Solthis teams agree to respect the confidentiality of all medical information and to ensure patients' privacy by strictly enforcing professional secrecy.

● Solthis programs work within the framework of the ethical principles upheld by the international community, in particular the Nuremberg Code, the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Declaration of Helsinki.

● Finally, Solthis agrees to respect the basic rules of professionalism, clarity and transparency in its administrative and financial management.
