Guinea mobilizes for patients’ rights from 16 to 18 April

Canakry, Guinea

In response to the European Day of Patients’ Rights celebrated on 18 April, the collective of associations for the promotion of patients’ rights in Guinea is mobilising from 16 to 18 April within the framework of the PACTES project to speak, exchange and raise awareness on patients’ rights in Guinea.

Respecting HIV patients’ rights: enabling everyone to live positively with their disease

The programme includes an exchange workshop with health workers, patients, psychosocial mediators, representatives of the Ministry of Health and associations involved in health promotion in Guinea:

  • Youth: right to access to information and appropriate sexual and reproductive health services
  • Victims of sexual and gender-based violence: beyond physical care
  • Citizen participation in health governance and universal access to quality health care
  • Citizen’s watch in health and strengthening of health systems

This mobilization will also be an opportunity to develop an advocacy note for the Ministry of Health and to visit patients at Ignace Deen Hospital to raise awareness of their health rights.

Initially created under the impulse of the European citizens’ movement Active Citizenship Network, the aim of this day is to promote patients’ rights and raise awareness of health rights, which remain largely unknown, despite the European Charter of Patients’ Rights promulgated in 2002.
