A look back at 20 years of Solthis in Sierra Leone, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Mali and Niger

After the head office team in Paris, it was the turn of our teams in the field in Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and Mali to celebrate Solthis’ 20th anniversary, accompanied by our institutional partners and the people on the field who play a central role in ensuring that our projects run smoothly.

To mark the occasion, our Chief Executive Officer, Dr Serge Breysse, went to Freetown, where he joined Maurice Kwite, Country Director and the Deputy Minister of Planning . Then to Dakar, where he was accompanied by Dr Safiatou Thiam, former Minister of Health in Senegal. In Abidjan, Professor Samba, Director General of Health, took part in the festivities, accompanied by Clémence Doumenc-Aïdara our Desk Manager Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast. To liven up the event, Ekom pair-educator and paralegal from the POUVOIR project, gave an artistic performance !

In a difficult backdrop in Mali, the “Solthis family” reunited in a small gathering to celebrate 20 years of Solthis activities, under the leadership of Country Director Dr Boubacar Cissé. Mali is the country where Solthis implemented its very first HIV project in 2003. Unfortunately, given the situation and the lack of new project funding, Solthis is forced to reduce its activity in Mali and to close its office in 2024. We continue to do our utmost to find solutions to continue supporting access to healthcare for the most vulnerable populations.

On March 6, the Solthis team in Niger closed the final celebrations of Solthis’ 20th anniversary. Roubanatou, Country Director, and Sandrine, Desk Manager for Guinea, Niger and Sierra Leone, were present for the occasion, accompanied by former staff members and our partners.
