As every year on March 8, International Women’s Rights Day, Solthis demonstrates its ongoing commitment to a feminist approach to healthcare.
To mark the occasion, we posted content on our social networks highlighting the importance of access to sexual and reproductive health care and rights for all.
We began with an interview with Ramata Baldé, a young ambassador from Guinea, member of Ablogui and General Secretary of the COPIL Jeunes of the PAJES project, who through her advocacy shows us her commitment to improving access to healthcare in Guinea despite the social challenges.
Then Yvan N’Gadi, Solthis advocacy manager for our AGIR and POUVOIR projects in Côte d’Ivoire, emphasized the need to involve young women in advocacy and training, in order to strengthen mobilization in the years to come.
We continued with a presentation by Babacar Kane, head nurse at Caritas and a member of the SANSAS project in Senegal. He shared his experience of caring for victims of gender-based violence, particularly adolescents. He also demonstrated how staff silence and lack of training can complicate this task.
The last interview in this campaign dedicated to International Women’s Rights Day introduced Absatou Medji Abdou, NTIC ambassador, Lafia Matassa and speaker on the JADES 2 project in Niger. She explains the essential need for access to contraception among young people, and illustrates the risks incurred due to lack of distribution.
To conclude, we have highlighted in our Commitment to a Feminist Approach to Care report how we implement our projects by respecting the rights of women and people in all their diversity.
